Location map

Engholm Husky Design Lodge sits on the banks of the Karasjohka river, around 6 kilometres outside Karasjok in northern Norway's Sami heartland. Accommodation is offered in a collection of handcrafted log cabins, each individually designed and furnished by owner Sven, giving each one its own distinct character. The lodge is built around a working husky farm with 50 sled dogs, and dog sledding tours and multi-day expeditions are the main draw in winter. Cross-country skiing and visits to Sami reindeer herders are also on offer during the colder months. Summer activities include wilderness safaris with pack dogs, canoeing, and island camping. The lodge suits solo travellers, couples, and groups looking for an immersive Arctic experience rather than standard hostel accommodation. Meals and board are available on site.
