Kronhede naturhostel & lejrskole
Kronhede Naturhostel & Lejrskole is located in Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune in western Jutland, housed in a historic former school building dating back to 1903. Set among rolling heathlands, forests, and bogs, it sits close to Naturnationalpark Stråsø, where guests can spot red deer, cranes, beavers, and traces of wolves. Originally run as a residential school camp since 1975, the facility added hostel accommodation in 2024 and from 2025 welcomes smaller groups and individual guests alongside larger group bookings. A new shelter site in the beech grove is also planned for spring 2025. The surrounding area offers hiking, mushroom foraging, wildlife watching, and dark skies free from light pollution. Facilities and room configurations are still developing as part of an ongoing renovation project supported by several Danish foundations and the local municipality.
