Location map

Svänö Vandrarhem sits in the northern part of Store Mosse National Park in Småland, southern Sweden. The building, known as Norregård, dates from 1907 and offers 24 beds across four rooms with a mix of single and bunk beds. The hostel has a genuinely off-grid character — there is no electricity or running water. Guests heat the rooms using wood-burning stoves, cook on a wood-burning stove or outdoor grill, and use an outhouse. Water and firewood are available on the property. Oil lamps and candles provide lighting. The surrounding landscape is rich in wildlife and typical of the national park's open bog environment. This is a good base for hiking and birdwatching in one of Sweden's largest remaining raised bogs. The hostel suits travellers looking for a simple, quiet stay close to nature.
