Visby fängelse
Visby Fängelse is a hostel housed in a converted 19th-century prison built in 1857 near the harbour in Visby, on the island of Gotland. The building, once nicknamed "Sjumastaren" for its seven chimneys, operated as a prison until 1998 and has since been transformed into a hostel offering a genuinely unusual place to stay. The location is hard to beat, with the ferry terminal around 100 metres away and the bus station within 300 metres. In addition to hostel rooms, the property offers cottages on the prison courtyard and apartments in central Visby. During summer, a restaurant and bar operate in the courtyard. WiFi, luggage storage, and a final cleaning service are included. Parking is available nearby, and motorcycles and bicycles can be stored in the courtyard.
