STF Pältsa Fjällstuga

STF Pältsa Fjällstuga is Sweden's northernmost mountain cabin, situated on the tundra near the Norwegian border along the Nordkalottleden trail, close to Treriksröset where Sweden, Norway, and Finland meet. The cabin has 26 beds spread across two buildings, including a larger lodge with shared rooms sleeping 4 or 10 guests, and the original 1941 cabin used as a resistance base during World War II. Facilities include a self-catering kitchen, sauna, and wood storage, though guests are expected to chop wood and fetch water themselves. There is no mobile coverage at the cabin. The surrounding landscape offers hiking, birdwatching, fishing, and midnight sun from mid-May to late July. The hostel is open in winter and summer seasons and is most easily reached via boat from Kilpisjärvi in Finland, around 15 km away. Dogs are welcome in designated rooms.
