STF Stora Karlsö

STF Stora Karlsö is a hostel located on Stora Karlsö, a small island nature reserve in the Baltic Sea about 30 minutes by boat from Klintehamn on Gotland's west coast. Staying overnight allows guests to experience the island after the day visitors leave, with evenings and mornings that are notably quiet. The island is known for its rich birdlife, including large guillemot colonies, as well as Stone Age caves, limestone cliffs, flowering meadows, and a historic lighthouse. It is a popular destination for birdwatching, nature walks, and swimming. The hostel hosts various organized courses and events throughout the season, including birdwatching, nature photography, and knitting retreats, run in partnership with external organizers. A restaurant is on site. The island is accessible by scheduled boat and is suitable for families as well as solo travelers.
