STF Stora Fjäderägg

STF Stora Fjäderägg is a small hostel located on a remote island nearly 20 kilometres out to sea from Umeå, in the northern Swedish archipelago. The hostel occupies a historic lighthouse station and offers 5 rooms with between 11 and 25 beds in total. Getting here is part of the experience: travel by bus to Norrfjärden, take the free ferry to Holmön, then a 25-minute taxi boat out to the island. A self-catering kitchen is available for guests. The island sits within a nature reserve and is known for birdwatching, seal spotting, swimming, and walking. Ornithologists are often present during migration seasons. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. The hostel is seasonal and weather can affect transport schedules. It is possible to book the entire property for a group.
