Location map

STF Berguddens Fyrvaktarbostäder is a historic lighthouse keeper's dwelling on Holmön, an island roughly 10 kilometres off the coast of Umeå in northern Sweden. The accommodation sits at the westernmost tip of the island, directly beside the Bergudden lighthouse, which has guided ships through the waters of Norra Kvarken for over 130 years. With around 4 to 25 beds spread across several rooms, it suits both small groups and families. This is a genuinely off-grid stay. There is no internet connection or running water, toilets are outhouses, and bathing means the sea or a washbasin. A self-catering kitchen is available. The surrounding area forms part of one of Sweden's largest marine nature reserves, with marked hiking trails and swimming spots within walking distance. Guided tours can be arranged. Holmön is reached by ferry from Norrfjärden, about 30 minutes from Umeå, with a hovercraft service operating in winter when ice conditions allow. Cycling is the practical way to get around the island.
