STF Tarfala Fjällstuga

STF Tarfala Fjällstuga is a remote mountain cabin located in Tarfalavagge, one of the most striking valleys in the Kebnekaise massif in northern Sweden. With 24 beds spread across two buildings, accommodation is in shared rooms of varying sizes, with wood-burning stoves for heat. Guests self-cater using the communal kitchen, and basic chores such as chopping wood and fetching water are part of the stay. A sauna is available on site. The cabin sits at high alpine elevation surrounded by peaks above 2,000 metres, including both summits of Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest mountain. Glaciers, including the Isfallsglaciären, are within easy walking distance. The hostel is open in winter and summer seasons only. The easiest approach is from Nikkaluokta, roughly 23 kilometres away, or as a day hike from Kebnekaise Fjällstation, about 8 kilometres distant. Pets are permitted in a designated room.
