STF Vakkotavare Fjällstuga

STF Vakkotavare Fjällstuga is a small mountain cabin with 16 beds located on the northern shore of Lake Akkajaure within Stora Sjöfallets National Park, along the road between Gällivare and Ritsem. Accommodation is in shared dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds and wood-burning stoves. Guests are expected to self-cater using the shared kitchen, fetch water, and chop wood. A resident host is on site. The cabin sits directly on the Kungsleden trail, making it a practical base for day hikes up to the alpine plateau with views over Akkajaure, Sarek, and the peaks of Áhkkás. Fishing is available nearby. The cabin has its own bus stop with daily connections to Gällivare, Saltoluokta, and Ritsem. Parking is available on site. Open during winter and summer seasons only.
